Vestry Retreat & Commitment, AIM

The Vestry has been hard at work!! Here's a recap:

  1. A financial Retreat with Canon Andrew Walter (and including our wonderful Vestry Finance Committee) on April 7 to fully understand our finances and our potential;
  2. A Vestry Retreat on May 15 to focus on our Mission;
  3. Sessions with EDOW sponsored "Courageous Discipleship" and Rev Anna Olson;
  4. Training with Action in Montgomery to learn more about ways to engage with our community and do God's work!

Last but not least, the Vestry has taken a big step towards securing another long term tenant (must remain confidential at this point) which is aligned with our mission and intended to bring a brighter future for Good Shepherd. We will hopefully be able to tell you more in the coming months!!

The Vestry is committed to our Mission, to you, our faithful congregation, and most of all to God who loves us and has given us all our blessings!!

Here is the prayer from the Good Shepherd Prayer Meeting this week:

Lord, please open our eyes. Please let us see those around us that are in need of our compassion. Compel us to listen to them, to hear their needs. Give us the heart to be interested in their troubles and provide for us the means to help them. We want to be compassionate. We want to have a heart for the world so that we will do all we can to be a voice for the oppressed, a giver to the poor, and encouragement for the disabled. We desire so much to be compassionate. We want to be aware of those in need. Let us give to those who are not as privileged we are. Give us the confidence in our actions so that we can give back. Let us be open to our imaginations so that the creativity we may need can flow easily and not be suppressed by doubt. Let us be what others need, Lord. This is all we ask. Use us as a vessel of compassion to a world in need. In your Holy name, Amen.
